Prince Plays Pushball

Spring 17th, 573

I would like to begin this entry by thanking the many exiles who attended my inaugural bash and made it the rousing success that it was. My speech went over as well as any dour piece about our impending doom can go over, something that I attribute more to the vast amounts of alcohol available than to my own ability. Unfortunately, no amount of liquor can change the simple facts that our enemies are many and our town is in shambles. As such, my plans to begin fixing these problems will be prepared for public viewing within the next few days.

Although this relatively short period will not be difficult to wait through, I hate to leave the good citizens of Puddleby empty handed. To compensate for the current lack of available information, I have prepared a visionstone of an adorable animal doing an adorable thing (a town cat that my good friend Xel recently discovered running about the indoor pushball field in an odd fashion). I trust that this will keep the lot of you satisfied until I am actually prepared to do my civic duty.

Without further ado, I present for your viewing pleasure Prince Plays Pushball: An Adventure Into the Arena of Alliteration.

Please forgive the fuzziness - I am not particularly experienced in working with visionstones, and had some difficulty here maintaining a sharp image. If you happen to know a way that I might be able to avoid this problem in the future, please let me know.

Yours in temporary hiding behind crowd pleasing pictures of cats,

One Ring to Lure Them All

Winter 40th, 573

I've recently come into possession of a rather strange ring. Though nearly identical to a common shieldstone in form, channeling my earth power through the thing causes it to behave in a way very divergent from my expectations. Rather than pushing creatures away from me, it pulls them closer. Curious, and potentially useful for particularly sturdy people.

Aside from the very obvious, there are a number of notable things about the way that the ring interacts with beasts. Active things, such as recluse arachne, skitter around within its pull but are unable to escape. Non aggressive breeds, such as scavenger birds, are somehow able to ignore it completely.

I've asked a few friends to try the ring on for size, and have found that only Champions are able to use it. I am no mystic, and can only speculate as to why this might be. Perhaps it only reacts to Toomeria's earth power. I hope that we are soon able to learn about, duplicate, and more efficiently use this strange contraption.

Jewelry aside for a moment. My inaugural celebration is scheduled to take place on the evening of Winter 53rd (OOC: 8:00pm EST on Sunday, November 16). You can read more about it here and here. It will almost certainly be the finest gathering that Puddleby has ever seen, and I do hope to see you there.

The Grand Symbol of the Largocracy

Winter 33rd, 573

Though the Largocracy is now officially the most powerful political party in Puddleby, it is lacking sorely in one regard - flashy emblems. To try and remedy this dire situation, I recently asked a few artist friends of mine to design a Largocratic coat of arms. One that featured, ideally, two crossed swords beneath a an illustration of my roaring head.

My good and talented friend Kisa (who has a marked history of painting wonderful images that glorify the Largocratic way) was kind enough to provide the sketch that you see here.

Though not exactly what I had in mind, this image will officially represent the Largocracy until an emblem is created that does not feature stabbing me in the face as a major point of design.

In other art related news, I have been informed that the portrait that Hoggle painted to commemorate my election is not, as I had previously noted, inaccurate in its coloring. Instead, the white hair in the illustration is a powdered wig. Though I do not own such a wig, I would almost certainly wear it if I did. Perhaps I will look into purchasing one. Many kudos to Hoggle for his excellent speculative work.

Yours,

Victory and a Portrait

Winter 28th, 573

We've done it! Thanks to the efforts and determination of my staff, the generous donations I received, and especially to your votes, I am now Puddleby's seventh fen president. To mark this occasion, I have prepared a speech that I plan to give at our University on the evening of Winter 53. Afterward, I will take your questions and, together, we can begin shaping plans for our future. This will be followed by the most glorious celebration that Puddleby has ever seen. Rest assured that refreshments, door prizes, and (hopefully) entertainment will abound.

I now pledge something that may come as a surprise to many of you; My time as your president will not be marked by sloth and parody of the gaudy farce that is mainland politics. I hereby assign those things to my running mate Relkin (a master of vice if ever one existed). Take my word now, and watch as I prove it over the next few years - my presidency will be remembered for the hard work that I put into it, and by an overall improvement in Puddlebean life. I will stretch my power to its limits for you, citizens.

I would like to end this entry by thanking Hoggle for the wonderful portrait he has painted of me. Hoggle is a true master of the brush, and though I feel he has portrayed my hair as a few shades too light here (creative license), I am truly honored and delighted to have him depict me. I adore portraits

Yours in great gratitude and excitement,

Voting Has Begun

Autumn 70, 572

This is a vital time for Puddleby. A formidable new tribe of t'rool'kin has been discovered to our southeast, Dar'shak interference has made ethereal disturbances commonplace, and our neglected little town lies in near shambles. The feast of T'ssrin draws near, and our joyous festivities are sure to be accompanied by their companion necromantic troubles. Perhaps most importantly of all, though, the time has come to cast your ballots for the office of Fen President.

It has been a long and difficult race, and a number of unexpected difficulties have marred a campaign trail that should by all rights have been straightforward and clean. We Largocrats have been bombarded by attacks from the Stylunk campaign, incompetence by the Kallisto campaign, and endless sunstones from Inu Teisei. We've stood strong against Stinkfist's threats and attempts at extortion, against the Dar'shak menace, and against the mire of disinformation spread by our foes.

Our time will come, but only if you make it. Cast your ballot for me today. Get your friends, your enemies, your clanmates, your library dwelling "cousins" to vote now, and I will ensure that tomorrow is better for all of us. Especially you.

Yours in good faith and in good taste,

An Excellent Poster

Autumn 29, 572

Kisa has created a splendid pro-Largo poster, as you can see below. I love portraits of myself, and it's truly an honor to have one drawn by the marvelous Kisa. You can view the rest of her magnificent work here.

Thank you, Kisa!

Largo's Triumphant Return

Summer 54, 572

As some of you may well know, I've finally staged my return to Puddleby and have announced my candidacy for Fen President. My campaign is already well underway, and I would like to state on behalf of the Largocracy that we are delighted to be the ones to pull this fine town out of its slump. The administration preceding this election has proven itself simply shameful in a number of ways. You know and trust me. I've fought bravely against the Dar'shak, helped head a prosperous government with Manx, and done immeasurable good for the little penal colony that we call home. My character and accomplishments speak loudly. As your President, I will work my hardest to right the countless wrongs of the Odessian administration and give you the government that you deserve.

Of course, it's not just about the Presidency. Behind every good leader is a crack team of brilliant advisors. This is why I've already begun to amass my cabinet - an unparalleled team of trustworthy, competent experts. Afrit will head up the Department of Detha, Rakshasa my personal bodyguards, and Hunter will hold the prestigious "Fen Treasurer" position. Althea and Relkin, both of whom have already proven themselves to me time and time again, will reprise their respective roles as my campaign manager and running mate. Thorgal, the bold Zo Champion that you've come to know and trust has been selected to serve as Secretary of Pastries.

Naturally, this momentous campaign has received its share of press. I've been featured on Thoomcare a few times, and OWE news once. Hoggle, of the Sticklord News Network, has even crafted a stunning visionstone in my honor. I encourage you to read up on the campaign, and to keep in mind that the outcome of a Fen Election has never before dictated our fates so plainly. Vote prosperity. Vote fashion. Vote for a better tomorrow. Vote Largo.

Ever a humble servant to my public,
